Working Together to Help Every Child Thrive
At Shefford Lower School, we believe that strong partnerships between school, families and the wider community help children flourish. By working closely with local organisations, professionals and families, we enrich our curriculum and provide meaningful experiences that support pupils’ personal development.
Through these opportunities, children build confidence, develop teamwork and resilience, and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Working in Partnership with Families
Parents and carers are key partners in children’s learning. We work closely with families to ensure that every child feels supported, valued and encouraged to succeed.
We provide a range of opportunities for parents and carers to be involved in school life, including:
-
Parent consultations and regular updates on learning and progress
-
Stay and Play sessions linked to our OPAL play programme
-
Year group showcases and celebration events
-
Parent forums and opportunities to share feedback
-
Project Based Learning (PBL) exhibitions where pupils share their work
-
Opportunities for parents and carers to volunteer in school
-
Support and guidance from our Family Support Team
Families are also invited to take part in curriculum events. For example, Year 1 parents were invited into school to support the PBL Pancake Project, sharing learning experiences alongside their children.
These partnerships help us create a supportive environment where children feel confident, secure and ready to learn.
Connecting Learning to the Local Community
We believe that learning should extend beyond the classroom. Our strong links with the local community help children see the relevance of their learning and develop a sense of pride in their local area.
Pupils benefit from a wide range of community experiences, including:
